This is a rare find - vintage grey silk jacquard woven fabric, unused in a bolt that measures 54” or 136mm in width and 10 yards in length. The fabric has an abstract leaf spray design woven into the silver grey silk base, quite striking. The fabric still has its original hang tag affixed to it, which reads “Loomcraft by Reliable Silk Co. Ltd” - I believe that this was a Montreal based company, now defunct. This fabric was acquired from the liquidation of an old fur business, so obviously had been used to line fur coats. Judging by the appearance of the hang tag, I believe that this fabric dates to the 1940s or 50s. The tag reads that there are 10 yards of fabric - I unfurled it and measured out 365 inches, so 10 yards is accurate. I took a tiny sliver from the beginning of the roll to perform a burn test, just to make sure that the fabric is indeed silk and the burn test confirmed this.
This is nice quality material - great if you need to re-line a fur coat, or perhaps could be used to make other items from scarves to pillows or anything that you can think of!
