This is a men’s blue linen suit jacket made under the Gianni Versace Versus label. Versus was created by Gianni in 1989 for his sister Donnatella as an outlet for her creativity. It was marketed for about 15 years as a full line, then limited in 2004 to accessories, and discontinued in 2005, then re-launched in 2009. I assume that this jacket dates to the 1990s. It has padded shoulders, a long profile, with notched lapels and four rectangular patch pockets, one at either side of the chest and one at either lower side, each with a V shaped flap that is held down with velcro. It closes at the front with three buttons that are decorated with the Versace Greek Key design and hidden by an over flap. It is half-fined with a blue viscose fabric.
Label: Versus with the Gianni Versace signature underneath
Manufacturer’s label: Ittierre Spa Zona Ind. Pettoranello di Molise (Isernia) Made in Italy. Ittierre held the manufacturing license for most, if not all, of the Versace lines until 2009. Also present is the label of authenticity
Fabric: 56% linen / 44% rayon viscose. The lining is 100% rayon viscose
Sizing: The size label states Italian size 50, which should correspond to a US size 40 (medium), but I think that it may fit a size 42 - please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior (please take the thickness of the fabric and the cut of the garment into consideration as well as the waist size of the pants):
Jacket:
Shoulders: 20” across shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeves: 25 1/2” from shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeve Inseam: 17” long
Chest: 47” around, taken under the arms
Waist: 45”
Overall length: 31 1/2“, measured flat
Condition: This jacket is in very clean condition - it looks like it saw very little use and was well stored
The Versus line targeted a youthful demographic - great look to this jacket and a very attractive tone of blue!
