Vintage Formal Tails Suit Tailcoat & Trousers 1980s–1990s
This is a classic vintage formal tails suit consisting of a traditional black cutaway tailcoat and black formal trousers, offered together as found.
The tailcoat was custom made by Tony the Tailor, a Montreal-based formalwear and tailoring shop located on Sherbrooke Street West, still in existence today. The coat features a traditional double-breasted front with satin-faced peak lapels, shaped waist suppression, and full-length tails at the back. The trousers were manufactured separately and are marked as made in the Dominican Republic. They are not original to the tailcoat but were found together - they are a close, but not exact match
Based on label style, construction, and tailoring details, the tailcoat dates most probably to the late 1980s to early 1990s.
