Vintage Dated 1962 Tuxedo Suit Society Brand Sz L Tall

This is a vintage dated 1962 tuxedo suit that was made by Society Brand for the Morgan’s department store.  The jacket to this 1962 tuxedo is made with heavily padded shoulders, a single button closure, narrow shawl lapels, jetted side pockets, chest pocket and three button cuffs - the shawl lapels and all pockets are trimmed in black satin.  There is a satin stripe down either leg of the pants.  The jacket is fully lined in acetate taffeta that is woven with an S throughout.  The pants have a pleated front, a hook and eye closure, brass metal zipper fly, a pocket built into either side and two back pockets. 

Label: Society Brand Clothes Tailored Expressly For Morgan’s. Society Brand was the brand name of Frs Payette & Fils Limitee of Saint-Jean, Quebec.  Morgan’s was a high-end department store originally located in Montreal, Canada, but expanded to a few other locations over time. 

Tailor’s label:  Society Brand Clothes Tailored in Canada - original owner’s name and date of 2-1-62 

Fabric:  No content label as this 1962 tuxedo was custom tailored, but wool in a medium weight with a soft finish.

Sizing: This vintage 1962 tuxedo has no size label as it is custom tailored and although it should fit a large size (US size 42), please rely on the following measurements for fit:

Jacket:

Shoulders: 20” across shoulder seam-to-seam 

Sleeves: 27 1/2” from shoulder seam (additional 2” in the cuff)

Sleeve Inseam: 19 1/2”

Chest: 46”

Waist: 42”

Overall length: 33 1/2“

Pants:

Waist: 36”

Leg Inseam: 33 1/2” long

Overall length: 46“ (additional 2” in the cuff)

Condition: This 1962 tuxedo is in very good condition with no wear, tear, staining or odour.  It does need a professional pressing.
