Vintage Carved Shell Cameo Pendant Brooch Roman Goddess Diana 800 Silver

This is a beautiful hand carved shell cameo mounted in 800 silver.  The cameo is carved in the image of the Roman Goddess Diana - part of her bow and the top of her quiver of arrows are showing and there is a moon symbol in her hair.  Diana was the goddess of the hunt and the moon, a nice symbol of female strength and beauty.  The shell is finely carved, in keeping with a quality antique cameo.  It is quite large, measuring 2 1/8” by 1 5/8”.  The silver mount is stamped 800 at the bottom and is nicely detailed.  There is both a loop at the top for use as a pendant and a pin so that the piece can be used as a brooch.  It is in very good condition - I have not polished the silver mount.  The shell has lovely translucence to it - the piece was photographed with a light behind it, so normal appearance would be more muted in color.

This is a lovely old cameo with beautiful detail - to be treasured and passed on!
