Vintage 60s White Stag Ski Sweater Navy w Red Unisex Size M
$75.00
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a wonderful vintage ski sweater made in the British Crown Colony of Hong Kong for White Stag of Portland, Oregon. Due to trade embargoes placed on the People’s Republic of China by the international community, Hong Kong began to develop its garment trade during the 1950s, and due to limitations placed on export to the UK in 1959, export markets were established in North America. This is why so many excellent quality garments dating to the early 60s are found locally and why American companies began to outsource manufacture to Hong Kong. White Stag was a brand of the Hirsch-Weis Manufacturing Company, which started producing ski suits under the White Stag label in 1931. Due to the success of its skiwear line, they changed their name to White Stag in 1956.
This ski sweater dates to the 1960s or 70s and is made of 100% wool in a pullover style. It is made with raglan styled inset sleeves - the sleeves are woven with red stripes. The size label on this ski sweater reads “M”, and although it should be a size medium, please note the following measurements for fit, noting the shorter length sleeves, keeping in mind the cut of the ski sweater and that are measurements are for unstretched fabric:
Shoulders: 15 1/2” across, measured across the sleeve inset seams
Sleeves: 23” long from the inset seam and 32” long from the mid neck to the cuff edge
Sleeve Inseam: 18 1/2” long
Chest: 42” around, taken under the arms, 21” across pit-to-pit
Bottom: 38” around, unstretched
Overall length: 26”
Condition: This White Stag ski sweater is in very good condition with no pronounced wear or tear, staining or odour. This ski sweater is clean and ready for use.
