This is a vintage 1966 men’s morning suit, or what some may refer to as a formal cutaway frock coat with striped pants.  This morning suit was custom tailored by CP Breare, a tailor located in Skipton, North Yorkshire, England.  The frock coat is made of a very good quality grey wool with heavily padded shoulders, a chest pocket, peaked lapels and a single button closure.  There are two buttons at the back and the sleeves have four button split cuffs.  The interior of the frock coat is lined in a grey satin rayon satin.  The pants are made in a black and grey striped wool with a white pinstripe. They have a pleated front with suspender buttons and a button fly.  The waistcoat is backless and has notched lapels, two pockets and a six shell button front.

Label:  C.P Breare Tailor & Outfitter 12 Sheep St Skipton No 1004 Date 28-12-66.  Most likely a very good tailor as the original owner also had a number of formal suits that were made by a Savile Row tailor.

Sizing: No size is indicated on this morning suit as it was made to measure, but this should fit a medium size, probably a US size 38.  Please note the following measurements for fit:

Morning suit coat:

Shoulders: 18” across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeves:  23” long from the shoulder seam - there is an extra 3” of fabric inside the cuff.

Sleeve inseam:  15 1/2”, taken under the arms

Chest:  42” around

Waist:  38”

Overall length: 42", taken at the back, measured flat from the neck seam

Morning suit pants:

Waist:  36” around

Hips:  44”

Length:  41”

Leg inseam:  30 1/2”

Vest:  No measurements given due to its open back and adjustable belts

Condition:  This morning suit is in very good condition with no wear, tear, staining or odours except for the lining of the vest which has moisture staining to the lining - a professional might be able to remove this, but no promises.  The frock coat and pants to this morning suit, however, are very clean and somewhat crisp.

This is a very nice quality morning suit as one would expect from a person of a means - they don’t make quality tuxedo tails like this anymore!
