This is a vintage 60s faux fur short coat with a leopard spot pattern, made by Lou Ritchie of Montreal, Canada. The coat has a high set, wide, notched collar and lapel that can be worn open or posed up in order to provide extra warmth - there is no closure, however, to fasten the neck. It has a double breasted button arrangement that does up to the left with two buttons. There is also a buttonhole at the top so that the coat can be closed to the right, but only with the top button. There is a slash pocket built into either side. The sleeves are made in a raglan style. The coat is lined in copper brown coloured rayon satin.
Age: 1960s
Label: Lou Ritchie of Montreal Made in Canada
Material: Acrylic pile
Sizing: No size is indicated, and although this should fit a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the thickness of fabric into account:
Shoulders: 17” across, approximated due to raglan cut of sleeve
Sleeves: 27 1/2” long from the neck seam
Sleeve Inseam: 16”
Bust: 42” around, taken under the arms
Waist: 44” around
Hips: 46” around
Overall length: 33”
Condition: It is in very good condition, the only defects being worn lining at the opening of the pockets and one pinhead sized hole to the lining at the upper back, really minor. The lining in the pockets could simply be removed or replaced, if desired, as it only covers the first inch of the interior pocket and really doesn’t serve much purpose. Otherwise, this coat looks very good with no pronounced wear, other tear or staining.
This is a great looking vintage faux leopard coat - Lou Ritchie was a very good coat manufacturer. I’ve had quite a few of his coats over the years, and they are always stylish and well made.
