This is a silk twill scarf made by the venerable firm Liberty of London. The scarf features a wonderful graphic of Japanese lanterns amidst bamboo.
Age: late 1950s, maybe early 60s
Label: No label, but printed with “Liberty of London All Silk Made in England” within the print
Color: Green, ochre, tan, beige, mint, black, dropped-out white and light salmon pink
Material: Silk
Size: 23 1/2” square
Condition:
It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear or tear - there are a few very small silk “separations”, pinhead sized, and quite minor. In addition, there are some moisture stains in the green border and a grayish linear mark (see last close-up photos), all of which I believe would come out with a dry cleaning. I chose not to dry clean it as it still retains its original folds - obviously, this saw little use and is otherwise very clean.
This is a wonderful Liberty scarf with a very attractive graphic design.....
