This is an original Chanel Boutique Fall/Winter 1998–1999 collection catalogue, published in Paris in 1998 during Karl Lagerfeld's tenure at Chanel.
The large-format hardcover catalogue presents Chanel's Collection Automne/Hiver 1998–1999, with the fashion photography credited to Karl Lagerfeld. The photographs are reproduced in rich colour against glossy black pages, with dramatic studio compositions showcasing the collection's predominantly black palette. The paper comprising the interior page is fairly thick and glossy.
The catalogue includes women's ready-to-wear fashions and accessories, with photographs featuring evening dresses, tailored separates, handbags, gloves and other accessories. Particularly striking are the images of the collection's sheer black evening pieces and sculptural leather handbags.
Additional sections present Chanel cosmetics and watches, including a Maquillage Chanel “Extrait de Rouge” lipstick image and a Le Temps Chanel jewellery watch.
The opening information page lists Chanel boutiques and retailers throughout Europe, North America, Asia, Australia and the Middle East and is headed:

The catalogue has glossy black hardcover boards with a large silver-tone circular interlocking CC Chanel emblem on the front and a smaller emblem on the back. The spine is marked “Paris 1998.”
This was a Chanel fashion catalogue/lookbook rather than a commercially published fashion book and is an interesting piece of late-1990s Chanel ephemera as well as a collection of Karl Lagerfeld's fashion photography. Institutional fashion archives also catalogue this specific season as “Chanel Boutique Collection, Fall-Winter 1998-1999.”
