This is a wonderful vintage mens jacket designed by Yohji Yamamoto. The jacket dates to the 1980s, possibly early 90s, and, although sized as medium, is oversized, as per the avant garde style of the period - I did pin it back on the dummy to give it some definition, so please read the sizing section below, although I will say that the upper is oversized, but the body does taper somewhat, so it is not baggy. It is made in a solid black linen fabric, typical for Yamamoto, who usually produced black garments. The jacket has padded shoulders, slightly peaked narrow lapels, a three button closure, a chest pocket, a jetted pocket at either side, two button cuffs and is half lined in black rayon. There is no back vent.
Label: Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme Made in France. Yamamoto introduced his menswear line in 1984.
Material: 100% linen
Sizing: Size M for medium is indicated, but due to the oversized style, this actually could be worn by a slightly larger size - it fit my husband, who wears a size 42 regular, but was long with quite long sleeves, so meant for a tall person. Please note the following measurements for fit, taking the style of the jacket into consideration:
Shoulders: 20 3/4” across from seam to seam
Sleeve: 26 1/2“ from the shoulder seam
Sleeve inseam: 18 3/4”
Chest: 47” around
Waist: 42” around
Overall length: 31 1/2“, measured flat
Condition: This jacket is in very clean condition but does have a small tear to the top right shoulder near the sleeve seam (see last close-up photo). Otherwise, there is no other wear, tear, staining or odour. I have priced it at a level so that you could have it invisibly mended should you wish, although a good seamstress should be able to do a decent job for a more reasonable price. Sold "as is"
This is a wonderful example of Yohji Yamamoto design - nice quality French manufacture in pure linen, collectible designer blazer!
