This vintage Mondi coat, dating most likely to the late 1980s, was made in West Germany and features a dramatic, elongated silhouette in a vibrant shade of red.

The coat is beautifully tailored in a substantial, smooth wool or wool-blend fabric with a soft, slightly brushed surface. Its design is unmistakably late 1980s, with pronounced structured shoulders, a long, straight silhouette and broad, sharply pointed lapels.

The double-breasted front features three pairs of coordinating red buttons, with two of the buttons being functional. The coat has a gently shaped waist, two flap pockets positioned at the hips and long tailored sleeves finished with small matching buttons at the cuffs.

The coat falls to approximately mid-calf length, depending on the wearer's height. The back is simply tailored with a centre seam and a long vent at the lower hem.

The interior is fully lined in coordinating red satin-finish fabric, providing a smooth, elegant finish.

Mondi was established in Munich in 1967 and became known internationally for its distinctive European fashion designs. The West German origin label, combined with the coat's pronounced shoulders and tailoring, supports a late-1980s date.
