Vintage 1980s Gucci Bomber Jacket Suede Leather Made in Italy – Size 42

This is a vintage Gucci bomber jacket dating to the 1980s, and made in Italy of suede leather. The jacket is constructed of soft suede in a very, very dark blue that most people would perceive as black or a slightly bluish tone of black.  It has vertical panel seaming and padded, rounded shoulders that create the characteristic silhouette of the era. It closes with a front metal zipper and has ribbed knit cuffs and waistband, which provide a fitted, blouson-style shape.

The interior is fully lined in rayon fabric featuring the woven Gucci script logo. The original Gucci label is present at the neck, reading “G. Gucci S.p.A., Made in Italy, Genuine Leather.” The jacket has side pockets integrated into the panel seams and a classic pointed collar.

This is a women’s jacket; the shoulder width, rounded padding, and proportions fit within typical 1980s ladies’ sizing, despite the numerical size of 42 (consistent with an Italian women’s size).

All measurements are taken flat and doubled where appropriate.

Shoulders: 20” across, seam to seam

Sleeve length: 24 1/2” from shoulder seam to cuff edge

Sleeve inseam: 21 1/2”

Bust: 42” around, taken under the arms

Bottom band: 37” around (elasticized ribbing, unstretched)

Length: 25” from collar seam to bottom edge

Condition:  In very good vintage condition with only light signs of wear to the suede nap, typical of age.  The jacket would benefit from a professional cleaning, although it is wearable as  is - note that the label is somewhat soiled and was unstitched from 3 corners, but I put in the stitches to re-attach the label more securely.  The suede presents well, the knit cuffs and waistband are strong, and the lining is clean with intact Gucci branding. No major flaws.
