Vintage 1970s Scheurich West German Pottery Vase 404-26 Fat Lava Era

This vintage 1970s Scheurich West Germany pottery vase is model 404-26, a handled jug shape produced during the fat lava era of the 1960s–1970s.

The vase features a softly speckled matte greenish grey glaze accented by raised dark brown lava bands that encircle the body in a flowing, organic wave pattern. The thick, textured glaze creates beautiful contrast against the smooth clay surface beneath. 

Stamped on the base:
“404-26 W. GERMANY” – “404” denotes the form, and “26” refers to the height in centimetres (approximately 10 1/4 inches).
