Vintage 1970s Men’s Suit Oleg Cassini Light Blue Wool Sz M

Vintage 1970s Men’s Suit Oleg Cassini Light Blue Wool Sz M

$95.00

This is a vintage 1970s men’s suit that is made of a 100% wool worsted in a medium light blue colour.  The jacket has medium width notched lapels, a two button front, three button cuffs and has a 12” centre vent at the bottom back.  There is a pocket at the chest and a large patch pocket at either side.  It is fully lined in light blue acetate. The pants have a flat panel front and a flared leg.

Label: Oleg Cassini.  Cassini was quite the intriguing character.  He was the son of a diplomat and was a well known Hollywood Lothario.  He started his career as a sketch designer for Hollywood wardrobe departments.  He met and married Gene Tierney in 1941, designing her wardrobe for the films that she appeared in.  After the marriage faltered, he had relationships with many of Hollywood’s top actresses, including Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe and Anita Ekberg.  He is best known for shaping Jackie Kennedy’s look while she was First Lady.  This suit was made in Poland under license to Oleg Cassini.

Fabric label:  100% Pure Virgin Wool

Pant label:  Oleg Cassini 100% wool Poland CA 02857

Sizing: Size 40 indicated, but I think that it may be more of a size 38 - this 1970s men’s suit is somewhat fitted, so please rely on the following measurements for fit:

Jacket:

Shoulders: 17 1/2” across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeves: 25 1/2” from the shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeve inseam: 17 1/2”

Chest:  42” around, taken under the arms

Waist:  38” around, buttoned

Overall length:  30 1/2”, measured flat at the back from the neck seam

Pants:

Waist:  33”-34”

Leg inseam:  32 1/2” - the legs are unfinished

Length:  42 1/2”

Condition: This vintage 1970s men’s suit is in very good condition with a couple of problems.  When the jacket was pressed, the interior pocket at the right chest left an impression (see second to last close-up photo). Also, there is a surface scuff at the left front shoulder, probably caused by a hanger, and a less prominent scuff to the inside left sleeve, really very minor, but mentioned in the interest of full disclosure

Despite the defects this vintage 1970s men’s suit presents itself very well - sold “as is” at a reduced price….
