This is an Indian cotton gauze dress made in India during the 1970s. The fabric is printed with motifs in tones of red, pink and white against a red background with metallic thread in alternating colours of red, blue and gold woven throughout the fabric. The bodice bib is made of similarly printed fabric overlaid onto the front and back - the front has a V shaped neckline with two black rope ties at the neck, each end of the ties decorated with small brass balls. The sleeves are made in a raglan style and have loose fitting cuffs. The dress is made of 100% cotton - the cotton is woven in a lightweight gauzy construction, somewhat translucent, great for summer wear. The dress is unlined and loose fitting.
Label: None. This was made at a time when often these type of Indian dresses were unbranded
