This is a very nice quality 1970s era Guy Laroche top or blouse made in loose fitting smock style. It has a round yoke neckline, full cut “puffy” below the elbow length sleeves with elasticized ends and is gathered below the neckline to create a loose body fit. The print is a white “branch” pattern against a blue background.
Age: 1970s
Label: Guy Laroche Boutique Paris Made in France. Guy Laroche (1921-1989) was a respected Paris fashion designer who apprenticed with Jean Desses from 1949 until he opened his own fashion house in 1957. Guy Laroche is quoted as saying “It is my intention to try and adapt haute couture to modern requirements: to make dresses that are simple and chic”.
Material: 50% “Lin-Flax” (linen) and 50% cotton in a summer lightweight - beautiful French quality
Sizing: Size 34 is indicated, which is a French size equivalent to a US size 4, but please note the following measurements for fit, allowing for the style of the blouse (your body measurements should be smaller, or measure a similar garment that you own):
Sleeves: 20” long from the open neck
Bust: 44” around, but should fall loosely
Bottom: 52” around - again, should be loose
Length: 25” long, measured flat
Condition: It is in very good condition with no wear, tear, stains or odors. This came from the estate of a shopaholic who bought more than she could possibly wear - many of the items were not used or obviously worn only a couple of times.
This is a very pretty top….easy to wear, looks contemporary….excellent Parisian fashion house quality!
