Vintage 1970s Courreges Logo Twin Set Sweaters Pullover & Cardigan Ladies S M
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a wonderful “twin” sweater set featuring a nubby blue “salt & pepper” knit, the outer sweater made in a cardigan style and the inner being a pullover sweater top. The cardigan has long sleeves, eight button closure, drawstrings at the waist, a pocket at either lower side and high rounded neckline. The bodice and lower sweater has ribbing. It has the Courreges logo applied in white at the left front side. The top has short sleeves and a white logo just below the neckline. Each comes with its original zippered plastic Courreges storage bag.
Label: This came from the estate of a wealthy woman who had a tendency to remove the labels in her garments, but there is no doubt as to the authenticity of this set. Normally, the label would read “Courreges Paris Modele Depose Made in France”. Andre Courreges is a legendary Parisian fashion designer, known for his avant garde “space age” design during the 1960s, and his innovative, “fresh” looking designs through the 70s.
Material: Difficult to say, but I’ve had other Courreges pieces, made in a similar knit, that had labels that read “64% Triacetate / 18% Polyamide / 18% Polyester”
Sizing: No size is indicated, but this lady normally wore a size 6/8 - please note the following measurements for fit (your body measurements should be smaller, or measure a similar garment that you own):
Shoulders: 15” unstretched
Sleeves: 23” long
Sleeve inseam: 18” long
Bust: 36”, unstretched
Waist: 29” around, unstretched and uncinched
Length: 25” long, measured flat
Shoulders: 14” unstretched
Sleeves: 9 1/2” long
Bust: 34”, unstretched
Ribbed bottom: 28” around, unstretched, stretches out to 34”
Length: 23” long, measured flat
The set is in very good condition with no wear, tear, stains or odors - it looks like it saw little use and was very well cared for over the years. The set has not been laundered or dry cleaned.
This is a wonderful sweater set - clean and youthful look. This is the genius of Courreges...timeless design.....
