Vintage 1970s Courreges Coat Black Wool France Ladies Size L

This is a wonderful 1970s Courreges coat.  I believe that this 1970s Courreges coat dates to the late 1970s - it has many of the design elements of an 80s coat, but Courreges was always ahead of its time and the style appears to be influenced by the New Wave design movement of the late 1970s.  This 1970s Courreges coat has large padded shoulders, collar and wide lapels that can be buttoned to close the neckline and dropped shoulder sleeves delineated by black leather banding.  Black leather bands also run across the top of the shoulders and there is a triangular black leather piece around each of the bottom two buttons - all of the buttons are leather covered. There is a pocket built into either side. The coat is fully lined.  This 1970s Courreges coat has a wide upper silhouette that tapers slightly to the bottom in a knee length.

Label:  Courreges Paris Made in France.  Andre Courreges is a legendary Parisian fashion designer, known for his avant garde “space age” design during the 1960s, and his innovative, “fresh” looking designs through the 70s into the 80s.

Color:  Black

Material: The content label is faded, but I believe that this 1970s Courreges coat is made of pure wool or a high content wool blend in a twill finish

Sizing: Size A is indicated, which is a Courreges size code - please note the following measurements for fit, allowing for the style of the garment (your body measurements should be smaller, or measure a similar garment that you own) and the thickness of the wool:

Shoulders and sleeves:  32” long from the mid-neck seam to the cuff edge

Sleeve inseam:  14 1/2”

Bust:  58” around, meant to be oversized

Waist:  50” around

Bottom:  46” around

Length:  38” long, measured flat at the back from the neck seam

Condition:  This 1970s Courreges coat is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odour.  The lining, however, has been patched at the upper right (see photo of lining)
