This is a vintage wool and viscose blended knit dress made in England by knitwear designer Mary Farrin.  Mary Farrin established her South Molton street shop at the height of the British Boutique movement during the late 60s.  This dress dates probably to the very early 70s, as it was made in England - Farrin began to manufacture in Gozo, Malta, establishing a cottage trade there during the 1970s.  By the 80s, production waned and the company closed in 1990. This dress has a squared collar, button-up bodice, long sleeves, defined waistline and a skirt that is cut so as to fall in drapes.  The collar is decorated with tan coloured zigzag stitching and the rest of the dress is knit with a fleshtone pink and grey “nubby” knit against a black knit base fabric.  It has loops for a belt, but no belt is provided.  It is unlined.

Label: Mary Farrin 13 South Molton Street, London W1 Made in England Wool 50% Viscose 50% Dry Clean Only

Sizing: No size is indicated, and although this should fit a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit, keeping in mind that the wool could be stretched somewhat for a tighter fit:

Shoulders:  15” across seam-to-seam

Sleeves:  25” long

Sleeve Inseam:  19”

Bust:  33” around, unstretched, can stretch out to 36”, but 34”-35” probably would be optimal

Waist: 28” around unstretched, stretches out to 32” if necessary

Hips:  36” - 38”

Length:  44 1/2”, measured flat

Condition:  The dress is in very good condition with no wear, tear or staining - one of the belt loops is detached at the bottom, very minor. Pre-owned, but well cared for over the years.

This is a wonderful knit dress - nice style, excellent British design by a mod era London knitwear designer!
