Vintage 1970s Black Dress with Textured Sheer Sleeves Algo-ettes Canada

This is a vintage black dress by Algo-ettes, made in Canada and dating to the  mid-1970s. The dress features a structured bodice with a wide square neckline and distinctive semi-sheer sleeves made from a textured appliqué decorated voile fabric, creating visual contrast against the taffeta body.

The skirt falls to a graceful midi length with a softly flared silhouette. It was photographed with a crinoline for shape and fullness; no crinoline is included with the dress. The design allows the dress to be worn either with or without added understructure, depending on the desired volume.

The garment is union-made, as indicated by the Canadian union label. A  matching fabric sash ties at the waist, offering shaping without restricting movement.

Size:  Size 5 is indicated and although this should fit a small size, please rely on the following measurements for fit:
Shoulders measure 13½ inches across from shoulder seam to shoulder seam, noting that the shoulder may extend slightly into the sleeve.
Sleeves measure 15 inches from the shoulder seam.
Bust measures 35 inches around, taken under the arms - should be loose to allow for movement.
Waist measures 29½ inches around, but meant to be cinched with the sash belt

Hips measure 36 inches around and are intended to hang loosely.
Overall length measures 42 inches from the back neck seam.

Condition: In very good condition, with no pronounced wear, tear, soiling, staining or odour.
