This is a fabulous vintage 1960s silver brocade tuxedo jacket. This 1960s silver brocade tuxedo jacket has narrow width black shawl lapels, and jetted pockets at either side and at the left chest. There is no vent at the back. The jacket does up with a single button at the waist. There is a single interior pocket that has the maker’s label on it with the union label on the interior of the pocket. This 1960s silver brocade tuxedo jacket is fully lined in a woven taffeta fabric.
Label: After Six by Rudofker
Union label: ACWU (Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union) that was used between 1962 and 1976.
Sizing: Size 42 Long is indicated on this 1960s silver brocade tuxedo jacket, but please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the outside:
Shoulders: 18 1/2” across seam-to-seam
Sleeves: 26” long
Sleeve Inseam: 17 3/4”
Chest: 46” around, taken under the arms
Waist: 44” around
Overall length: 31“, measured flat at the back from the neck seam
Condition: This 1960s silver brocade tuxedo jacket is in very good condition with the exception of a repair to the right sleeve above the elbow area (see last close-up photo) - not that noticeable, but definitely visible. Otherwise, the jacket is very crisp and clean with no other wear, tear or staining. This tux jacket looks like it saw little use and was well cared for over the years.
This is a great 1960s silver brocade tuxedo jacket, the type of thing that an R&B/Soul singer would have worn during the 1960s - wonderful fabric and colour, rarely seen!
