Vintage 1960s Miss Elliette Hostess Dress Palazzo Pant Suit Peach Chiffon Size L

This is a hostess “dress” or pant suit, consisting of palazzo type pants and a top, both in a peach coloured pleated chiffon fabric.  The top could be worn on its own as a dress, so this is like a 2 for 1. The top is sleeveless and has a ruffled neckline.  The pants are cut very wide.  The chiffon is over an acetate base.  It has a matching belt, but the belt is not in the best condition - the surface fabric is creased and a little delaminated in places, but the belt could be replaced, if desired.  The top and pants both close with a metal zipper at the back.

Label: Miss Elliette California.  Elliette Ellis was born in Montreal, but moved to New York to attend art school, eventually deciding on a fashion career.  After being married, she moved to Los Angelles, where she set up her clothing business in 1952.  She specialized in feminine looking styles, using chiffon extensively.

Age:  late 1960s, maybe very early 1970s

Sizing: No size is indicated, and although this should fit a large size, please note the following measurements for fit, using the acetate base fabric (chiffon will add to the measurements):

Top:

Bust:  40” around, taken at the underarm opening, but probably should fall loosely

Waist:  46” around, uncinched, should be cinched with belt, but could be worn loose at the waist

Length:  34”, measured flat (acetate base)

Pants:

Waist:  31” around

Leg inseam:  33” at the bottom of the chiffon, 27” acetate base only

Length:  42” acetate base

Condition:  Except for the aforementioned belt, it is in very good condition, no holes, wear, tear, staining or odour. This has been very well cared for over the years.

This is a wonderful hostess outfit - floaty chiffon, great pleating, perfect period piece!
