This is a wonderful vintage cotton caftan dating most likely to the 1960s, featuring a tie dyed print in neon pink against a bright green background with yellow shadows. There is no label, but likely this was made by an artisan. It is very loose fitting, made with no closures so is meant to simply fit over the head. There is some decorative stitching at the front under the scoop neckline. Please note that they used a stiffened fabric as a backing for the stitching (see last close-up photo) - this may cause a bit of discomfort, although I’m sure that if they used this, it probably is OK.
Size: No size is indicated, and although this should fit a range of medium sizes, please note the following measurements. Laying the shoulders out straight, similar to a kimono, it measures 35” across the top from end to end. The bust area measures 29” across, or 58” around - of course, this would accommodate the arms as well as the torso and would be loose fitting. The length of the garment is 58“, measured lying flat.
Condition: It is in very good condition with no wear, tear, staining or odour - this looks to have seen little use and was well stored over the years.
This is a striking piece, great for wearing to festivals - comfy cotton, eye-popping colour!
