Vintage 1950s Skirt Suit Maroon Wool Morlaine Montreal Small
This is a high-quality vintage 1950s skirt suit made by Morlaine of Montreal. The suit is tailored from a textured diagonal weave worsted wool in a rich maroon tone. The jacket is designed in a structured double-breasted style with large self-covered buttons, a notched collar, raglan style three-quarter length sleeves, a flapped pocket at either side and a fitted waist that flares gently over the hips. The back features a decorative half belt. The matching skirt is straight-cut and fastens at the side with a metal zipper and button at the waistband. The jacket is fully lined in maroon satin as is the skirt.

Condition: In very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, soiling, staining or odour. There is some thread/yarn pulling where the front flap hooks to the jacket (see last close-up photo) - there is a loop but I guess that the hook was mispositioned when being attached and caused some wear to the area; this is not visible when the jacket is done up. Aside from this, there is a small yarn pull at the bottom right front hem edge, very minor, but mentioned in the interest of full disclosure. Otherwise, this suit has been well preserved and presents itself very well.
This is a beautiful quality vintage 1950s skirt suit - excellent wool fabric and style!
