Vintage 1950s Red Tulle Party Dress by Rappi for Saks Fifth Avenue

From the 1950s here's a striking formal party dress. The dress is made of red netted fabric over a red taffeta base. The bodice of the dress is gathered in vertical pleats while the skirt is covered in layers of red net tulle. The neckline is cut wide and square and the dress has short sleeves. The dress was photographed without a crinoline - the use of a crinoline would create a fuller “circle skirt” look.
About the designer - Rappi was born Sydonia Rappaport Samalman in Austria, and was one of a select number of American designers specializing in higher-end formalwear aimed at debutantes.
