Vintage 1950s Phantom Seamed Nylon Stockings Rosebeige Size 9 NOS

This is a pair of vintage 1950s seamed nylon stockings made in Canada under the Phantom brand name by National Hosiery Mills Limited of Hamilton, Ontario.

The stockings come in their original Phantom box and retain the original spiderweb-printed tissue paper bearing the distinctive Phantom Sanitized logo.

The 60/15 designation indicates 60 gauge, 15 denier, a fine sheer nylon construction characteristic of quality hosiery of the period. Canadian advertising from 1955 specifically offered Phantom 60-gauge, 15-denier nylon stockings.

The colour is called Rosebeige, an attractive pinkish or rosy shade of beige.

These are full-fashioned stockings with traditional back seams and reinforced heels and toes. The wide upper welts have a particularly attractive knitted openwork diamond design.

The side of the original box is marked “Made in Canada by National Hosiery Mills Limited, Hamilton, Canada.”

Condition:
The stockings are unused and in excellent condition. The original box has considerable wear from age and storage, including edge and corner wear and losses to the black covering. The original spiderweb-printed tissue is present.
