Vintage 1950s California Novelty Skinny Tie Hand Painted Palm Tree 2.25" Width

$75.00

This vintage 1950s novelty tie features a hand-decorated California palm tree design accented with sparkles. The centre front shows a stylized palm tree set against a desert-like landscape, framed by decorative scrollwork and finished with the word “California” near the tip.

Rendered in brown, orange, gold and green tones with grey airbrushed shading, the hand-applied decoration sits visibly on the surface of the reddish brown fabric, creating a lightly textured effect characteristic of mid-century novelty ties.

The narrow 2 1/4" width and shorter length are consistent with late 1950s skinny ties, just before widths began to increase again in the early 1960s. Ties of this type were commonly sold as souvenir pieces in tourist destinations such as Southern California.
