Vintage 1950s 60s Chiffon Dress Pleated Black Silk Size M

This is a vintage 1950s or early 60s chiffon dress featuring fabulous quality pleated black silk chiffon fabric over a black taffeta base.  It is constructed with a single layer of black chiffon above the waist and a double layer below the waist.  There is no taffeta above the bust so the chiffon creates a semi-transparent look across the upper bodice, shoulders and back.  The chiffon, due to the pleating, has some spread, and so covers the upper arm with a cap sleeve. This 60s chiffon dress is made in a below the knee length.  There is a small flounce at the bottom of each layer of chiffon, the inner layer being longer than the outer.  The dress does up the back of the taffeta slip with a metal zipper while the chiffon has an open slit back that does up at the neck with a button and loop.  The taffeta slip is held up with flesh coloured shoulder straps.

Sizing: No size is indicated on this 60s chiffon dress, but it should fit a medium size - please rely on the following measurements for fit: 

Bust:  36” around - difficult to ascertain due to open back

Waist: 29”-30” around

Hips:  38”-40” around

Length:  41” measured flat from the top of the shoulder strap

Condition:  This 60s chiffon dress is in excellent condition with no pronounced wear, tear or staining - this looks to have seen little use and has been well kept over the years. 

Sophisticated style - this just smacks of quality, perfect late 50s, early 60s chiffon dress!
