This is a vintage men’s dressing gown featuring a repeating “dashes” and larger star-like shapes in a lighter and darker tone against a shiny silver grey background. The robe is made of, most likely, rayon and has burgundy coloured crepe fabric shawl collar, cuffs, pocket trim and matching sash belt. The robe has slightly padded shoulders, turned cuffs, a jetted breast pocket and a jetted pocket at either side. It is lined in a burgundy/maroon coloured satin fabric. The label is missing - you can see where the stitches had been at the upper back area of the lining.
Age: 1940s, maybe early 50s
Sizing: No size is indicated, but this should fit a medium to large size (size 40-42) - please rely on the following measurements for fit:
Shoulders: 18 1/2” across seam-to-seam
Sleeves: 24 1/2” long
Sleeve Inseam: 20” long
Chest: 44”, taken under the arms, depending on overlap
Waist: 42”, meant to be cinched with belt
Overall length: 43“, measured flat
Condition: It is in very good condition with the exception of a re-sew of the lining at the right armpit seam. In addition, there are two light stains to the crepe trim at the lower left inside opening that I haven’t worked on, but should come out with a bit of effort - not visible under normal use in any case. Otherwise, the robe is in very good condition with no other wear, tear or staining, although it would benefit from a professional pressing.
This is a wonderful men’s dressing gown - striking colour combination, very classy!
