This is a vintage 1940s / 1950s era suit made of silver toned grey wool that is woven with a stitched white and black oval shaped motif throughout. The jacket of this suit has padded, squared shoulders typical of the 1940s, high set, round notched collar and lapels, and a five button closure. It has a longer silhouette with a slightly accented waistline. The sleeves are made in a to-the-wrist length. There is a pocket at either side, each with a notched opening. The skirt has a mid-calf length, flares to the hemline, has pleating at the back, does up with a metal zipper at the side, and is unlined. Please note that the suit was too large for my mannequin, so pinned back for the photos
Sizing: No size is indicated, but this should fit a large size. Please note the following measurements, taking the style of the suit into account:
Shoulders: 17” across seam-to-seam
Sleeves: 21 1/2” from shoulder seam
Sleeve Inseam: 14” long
Bust: 44” around, taken under the arms
Waist: 38” around
Overall length: 25”
Hips: 46” around
Overall length: 30"
Condition: It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odours. This suit looks to have seen little use and was well stored over the years.
This is a nice period suit - hard to find in this large size!
