This is a souvenir plate depicting the Banff chairlift. The chairlift on Mount Norquay was built in 1948, the first to be installed in the area. It was built primarily as a summer tourist sightseeing draw, but soon became evident as an aid for skiers. The chairlift enabled the rapid growth of skiing in the area.
This plate is made in a leaf form, finished in pink and gold with an illustration of young women, one on a chair and another hanging off of the structure. It is stamped on the back in gold with ESD Japan Hand Painted NE2820. It measures 8 1/4 square and is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or wear.
Fun ski collectible - wonderful addition to a Canadiana collection!
