This is a wonderful vintage needlepoint cover for a small chair seat or foot stool or maybe to make a cushion.  It features a 1930s era lady, dressed in a long black evening dress and holding a rose up in her hand.  She is framed by a floral and foliate design.  The work is hand done in petit point stitch against a coarser needlepoint background - this must have taken considerable time to make.  It is in very good condition except for a small tear to the bottom edge, very minor.  The colours are vibrant and quite striking, very pretty.  The piece measures 27” wide by 26 3/4” high, and the needlepoint itself measures 23” square.  The image measures 13 1/2” high by 13” wide.  It is very clean, just one light spot to the lower left (image right) of the petit point that I haven’t tried to remove, but should come out with the right treatment.
