Vintage 1930s Evening Gown Black Chiffon Long Dress Size Large
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a simple, but lovely black chiffon evening gown. The dress has a squared neckline and is sleeveless. The waistline is seam defined and the skirt is cut and seamed in such a way that it falls in drapes, almost like a bias cut but not technically bias cut. I wish that I could have better photographed the seam construction, but this is beautifully structured even in its simplicity. The fabric is semi-transparent. I posed the dress with a slip that I had, but it wasn’t ideal - it is not included, so you would have to supply your own slip to use with this dress. Given the way that it is made, I’m fairly certain that it dates to the 1930s, although it is possible that it is early 40s era. The dress does up at the side with four snaps and a hook and eye at the waist. I’m unsure if the chiffon is silk or rayon - I think maybe rayon, but still a beautiful fabric, smooth and soft to the touch with nice “fall”.
Sizing: No size is indicated, and although it should fit a large size, please note the following measurements for fit, keeping the style and cut of the garment in mind. Please measure your body or a similar garment that you own:

This is a beautiful dress - wonderful unstated gown for a formal event!
