Vintage 1920s Green Chiffon Silk & Lace Peignoir Dress Flapper Style Size M
$250.00
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a 1920s flapper era peignoir that could be used as a dress, made in a green chiffon silk and net lace combination. The dress has a capelet top that covers the upper arms and a kimono type neckline that folds over to the left and attaches at the waist with a snap that is covered with a silk fleurette. The capelet is trimmed with net lace. Lace also covers the skirt of the piece and forms a V shaped waistline.
Label: A Real Silk Garment Sponsored by The Silk Association of Canada
Sizing: There is no size label, and although this should fit a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit:
Shoulders: 36” across the shoulders
Bust: 40” around, should be a little roomy
Waist: 34” around
Hips: 40” around
Overall length: 48”, measured flat
Condition: It has a few condition problems. The silk lining has a tear in the shape of a right angle - the vertical is stitched, but the horizontal tear is not (see last close-up photo). This would need some attention to avoid it from getting worse. The damage is not visible from the exterior. In addition, the hemline at the back of the dress is missing part of its length (see second to last photo), but again, this is not really apparent under normal viewing. Finally, there is a bit of very light staining to the armpits, hardly anything to the left, but slightly more pronounced to the right. Not visible when the piece is being worn, and I haven’t tried to work the stain out due to the fragility of the fabric.
Despite the small defects, this is a rather rare 1920s era piece - striking tone of green!
