This is an authentic antique 1883 edition of Gray’s Anatomy: Descriptive and Surgical, one of the most famous medical reference works ever published. This example is the 10th English edition / New American edition, issued by Henry C. Lea’s Son & Co., Philadelphia, and edited by T. Pickering Pick with additional material included for the American market.

A substantial Victorian medical volume, the book contains 1023 numbered pages plus 4 publisher catalogue pages at the rear. It is richly illustrated throughout with anatomical engravings, including detailed studies of the brain, pelvis, skeletal structure, nervous system, and other surgical subjects. These engravings remain among the most recognizable scientific illustrations of the 19th century.

Bound in its original dark cloth hardcovers with gilt titling to spine. A handsome shelf display copy for collectors of antique books, medicine history, anatomy references, gothic décor, curiosity cabinets, libraries, or Victorian study interiors.

Condition
Good condition overall. Covers show rubbing, scuffing, a small gouge at the back cover, corner bends, edge wear, and age-related marks. Spine ends softened. Front inner hinge cracked with visible separation at endpaper, though binding remains intact and text block still holding. Pages generally clean with expected age toning and some slight waviness to the top. A bookseller stamp appears inside front cover. A solid and presentable 19th-century copy.

Grading (book trade style)
Good / Good Minus due to hinge separation and exterior wear, but complete and still sturdy enough for careful handling.

Despite the condition issues, still a solid Victorian era edition of this famous anatomy book!
