This is a wonderful vintage silk handkerchief designed and signed by Tammis Keefe. Tammis Keefe is considered one of the greatest handkerchief designers, highly collectible for her wonderful graphic prints. Her career started at Disney Studios, then continued at the Dorothy Liebes textile studio. She started designing for Kimbal during the late 1940s and continued designing hankies through the 1950s - she passed away in 1960. She produced some 400 handkerchief designs. This hankie, as mentioned, is made of silk - silk hankies by Tammis Keefe are hard to find, so this would be a treasured addition to a collection. It features a piggy bank design in the center surrounded by coins. It measures 16 1/2” by 16”. It is in very good condition with the exception of a pinhead yellowish spot at the top right corner and some soiling along the fold line - I have not laundered this, so a professional cleaning should take care of these two minor problems. This is a rare silk version of a Tammis Keefe hankie, great addition to a collection.
