This is a hard to find bone china pin / brooch made by Royal Worcester in 1953 to commemorate the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. The bone china features an image of the Queen in black against white and is set in a brass frame. The backside is marked with the crowned “EIIR” symbol and text that reads “Coronation June 2nd 1953 W Bone China Made in England”. The brooch measures 1 7/8” by 1 1/2” - it is in very good condition with no pronounced wear.
There has been a lot of interest in Queen Elizabeth recently as she has become the world’s longest reigning monarch and entered her 90th year. For anyone who has seen the recent movie “The Crown”, this pin is a reminder of the issues that Elizabeth faced as a young woman ascending the throne. Nice collectible piece!
