This is a pre-owned ladies' jacket made by Roots Canada commemorating the Jamaican Bobsled Team. The Jamaican bobsled team was the topic of the movie “Cool Runnings”. Jamaica, not being a cold winter climate country, had not competed in the Winter Olympics, but against all odds, fielded a bobsled team in the 1988 Winter Olympics held in Calgary, Canada. When the team showed up without jackets, a Canadian company, Roots Canada, decided to make them some jackets. As a result, Roots saw huge growth due to the publicity and became a supplier to a number of Olympic teams. This jacket is made in the national Jamaican colours, green, yellow and black. It has the Roots beaver logo printed on the right chest and the Jamaican Bobsled Federation crest applied to the left chest. Jamaica is applied in raised letters across the upper back. It has raglan sleeves, a fleece interior and does up the front with a nylon zipper and has a zippered pocket at either side.
Age: I’ve only seen this in a blog - the blogger had bought it on sale in 2007, so it probably dates to around then, maybe 2006. It doesn’t appear to be a common item.
