Hollóháza German Shepherd Dog Porcelain Figurine Hungary Hand Painted Alsatian

This is a Hollóháza porcelain German Shepherd dog figurine made in Hungary. The dog is depicted lying down with its front legs extended, head raised and ears upright.

The figurine is hand painted in shaded black, grey and brown tones, with darker colouring across the back and lighter brown colouring around the head, neck and chest. Details of the eyes, nose, mouth and paws are painted by hand. The long, low composition measures 8 inches in length.

Hollóháza is a longstanding Hungarian porcelain manufacturer whose origins date to 1777. The underside bears the blue Hollóháza factory backstamp with the bird and wreath emblem, reading 1777 / HOLLÓHÁZA / HUNGARY / HANDPAINTED, together with a red hand-painted decorator's mark. This version of the Hollóháza backstamp was used from 1992 until 2020, providing the date range for this example, however, this example dates to the 1990s as confirmed by the original owner.
