Vintage Green Fur Felt Fedora – Magill Montreal – Size 7 – 1950s 1960s
This is a vintage Canadian fur felt fedora in an uncommon olive green tone, likely dating to the late 1950s to early 1960s.
The sweatband is stamped “Genuine Fur Felt,” a marking consistent with production from the Magill Hat Manufacturing Co. of Montreal, founded in 1895 - this, however, could have been made by a different maker and the attribution is only speculative on my part. The retailer stamp reads “Huttman’s Dept. Store – Edmunston, N.B.” It would be consistent for a New Brunswick retailer to carry Canadian-manufactured hats during this period.
The felt is soft, pliable, and of very good quality, with a smooth hand and structured crown.
