EAPG Dithridge Green Glass Ribbon Plate – Antique c 1900

This EAPG Dithridge green glass ribbon plate is an excellent example of early American pattern glass from around 1900. Produced by Dithridge & Co. of the Fort Pitt Glass Works, Pittsburgh, this No. 208 pattern EAPG Dithridge green glass ribbon plate has a pierced ribbon border, scalloped edge, and raised moulded design accented in gold. The centre is hand-painted with a floral bouquet, likely pansies, in purple, yellow, and white enamel. Such painted decoration was applied cold and is often worn away; the fact that this EAPG Dithridge green glass ribbon plate retains much of its original colour makes it especially appealing.
Measuring 8 3/8 inches in diameter, this piece remains in very good condition with wear to the painted decoration, minor loss to the gold trim, and a few tiny fleabites to the base — all consistent with a plate over 120 years old.
Collectors of early American pattern glass will appreciate the scarcity of this coloured and hand-decorated example, as most surviving ribbon plates are clear. This EAPG Dithridge green glass ribbon plate is a wonderful addition to an EAPG collection or simply as a pretty display piece!
