Original Canada Paint Company advertising booklet issued in the early twentieth century by The Canada Paint Company Limited of Montreal and Toronto. The self-cover booklet consists of sixteen pages illustrated in colour lithography (chromolithography) and promotes the company's ready-mixed paints through architectural colour schemes, decorative house illustrations and period advertising artwork.
The front cover bears the slogan "To Make Your Home Like a Fairy Palace" above an imaginative European-inspired cityscape, while the interior illustrates numerous Edwardian house designs accompanied by suggested exterior paint colours. The booklet also contains advertising text describing the company's paints, varnishes and finishes, providing an interesting record of Canadian architectural taste and commercial advertising during the period.
The booklet measures 4 1/4 inches by 5 1/4 inches and consists of 16 self-cover pages.
Condition
The booklet remains in very good condition. There is light age toning, creasing and handling wear consistent with age. The original staples remain present, the binding is sound, and the pages are complete, but the cover is detached from the interior pages and reinforced with tape at the spine. There is an old dealer or retailer stamp on the rear cover and a small area of paper loss to the top right corner of the front cover, as shown in the photographs.
