This is an authentic original Cameronians / Scottish Rifles cap badge dating to the turn of the century, circa 1901. It belonged to a career military officer, who became a Sergeant Major with the Royal Montreal Regiment during a 36 year career, but started his military service in Scotland with the 6th Battalion (Territorials) Scottish Rifles (Cameronians) in 1901, staying with the 6th until he immigrated to Canada in 1911. Ive had this badge for many years. and unfortunately Ive lost the gentlemans name, but the provenance is true and correct. The badge is made of blackened brass, typical of the earlier Cameronian badges. It is in excellent condition with its original lugs and fastener bar/clip - the only issue is a bit of exposed brass at the center tip of the star - I havent been able to view another example in such beautiful original condition. It measures 2 5/8 wide by 2 1/8 high. This is a very nice collectible badge - great acquisition!
