Art Deco Indiana Etched Glass 602 Mayonnaise & Liner w Indiana Dancer Gold Encrusted Cameo
This is an art deco elegant glass mayonnaise and liner set made as part of the Indiana Glass No. 602 Octagon Line and decorated in the Indiana Dancer cameo etch, which is encrusted in gold. There is an etching that is interspersed between the cameos, one of two etchings known to have been used in conjunction with the Indiana Dancer cameo. Indiana Glass did their own in-house etching and this is a known etch of theirs. The liner measures 9” across its handles by 7 1/4”. The bowl measures 7” across its handles by 5 3/4” - it has a height of 2”, exclusive of its handles. The set is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or notable wear - there is a small notch to the interior of one of the mayo’s handles, but this looks original to the manufacture as I can’t see how else this could have happened. I believe that the mayo set is an earlier version of the 602 line, dating to the early to mid-1930s.
I think that this is a rare set - Indiana Dancer is not that common, but to find it gold encrusted on a mayonnaise set appears to be very uncommon as I couldn’t find another example anywhere….nice addition to a collection!
