Antique Staffordshire Pottery Lamb Figurine Sheep circa 1840

This is a wonderful antique Staffordshire pottery lamb figurine.  The piece has hand painted features and has hand applied pebbled decoration emulating a lamb’s fleece.  This antique Staffordshire pottery lamb figurine dates to the mid-19th century, circa 1840.  It measures 2 1/2” in height, 3 1/4” wide, and 1 1/2” deep at its base.  The piece is in very good condition with the exception of a fissure / crack to the underside of the base (see last photo) as well as some glaze crazing - any other imperfections, I assume, are original to the making of the piece.  Considering the age of this lamb, minor damage like this should be understood and tolerated.  This particular fat bodied model is considered to be a desirable example of Staffordshire sheep - wonderful acquisition for the collector or simply a great display piece for the sheep lover!
