This is an antique porcelain charger made by Jaeger & Co. (J&C) of Bavaria, Germany, measuring 12¼ inches in diameter. This antique porcelain charger is part of the company’s “Louise” line and is decorated with hand-painted roses in soft yellow, pink, and mauve tones. The flowers are set against a pastel ground that shades from green to blue to blush, finished with gilt trim along the scalloped edge.

The underside is stamped with the J&C “Louise” Bavaria Hohenzollern registered Germany Hand Painted mark, used between 1898 and 1923. Based on the soft pastel ground and naturalistic rose painting, the style is most consistent with work from the early 1900s to c.1915, when hand-painted floral chargers and cabinet plates were particularly popular in Bavarian porcelain.

Condition: This antique porcelain charger is in very good condition with the exception of some minor surface scratches consistent with age and use.  These scratches are not noticeable under normal casual viewing, only upon close inspection - see photos for details.  Otherwise, no chips, cracks or other defects.

This antique porcelain charger is a fine example of antique Bavarian porcelain and would make a beautiful display piece for a cabinet, sideboard, or wall…
