This is a wonderful sterling silver Pan American Exposition souvenir spoon. The bowl of the spoon is gold washed and engraved with Pan Am Expo Buffalo NY and with the North and South American continents in contrasting tarnished silver, with figures reaching out for each other through Central America. The handle has a raised image of a Buffalo and an Indian warrior. The back of the handle has raised lettering that reads American Souvenir Co Sterling Pat. Buffalo NY and with star S star, which is the mark for the Joseph Seymour Mfg company of Syracuse, NY. The back of the bowl is marked Official. The spoon measures 5 1/2 in length and weighs 24 grams. The spoon is in very good condition with no pronounced wear.
This is not a common spoon - the Pan American Exposition was held in 1901..
