This is an antique Mauchline ware photo album featuring a transfer printed image of the Niagara Cast Iron Bridge on the front and the Montreal YMCA in 1873 on the back. The Niagara Cast Iron Bridge was the first working railway suspension bridge, opened in 1855 and closed in 1896. The album contains 25 two sided sheets (50 pages). There are 19 carte de visits sized photos (2.5 x 4) and 10 tintypes (2.5 by 3.5). The album measures 6 1/4 by 4 1/2. It is in quite good condition - some scratching to the covers, some wear and tear to the interior pages and two of the pearl pieces on the back cover are missing. There is a lot going for this piece - interesting Canadian transfers and some great tintypes great addition to a Mauchline ware collection, a photo collection, a railroading collection or a Canadiana collection!
