Antique Japanese Cloisonne Vase Ginbari Style Enamel Meiji Period 6.375

Brand Etsy

This is a very nice Meiji period Japanese cloisonn enamel vase, decorated in the Ginbari style. It features very pretty, almost luminous, panels that incorporate butterflies in their design - the panels remind me somewhat of stained glass windows. The interior is enamelled in a bluish teal colour and I believe that the enamelling is on Japanese bronze. It measures 6 3/8 in height and is in very good original condition with no signs of wear. The vase is unmarked but there is no doubt as to what it is. I would date the piece to circa 1890. Very pretty display piece, lovely under lighting!
